"True happiness can only be realized through absolute freedom."  Do you agree or disagree?
I agree with it 100%.

If you agree with that, here's a quote came up today in lunch you may find interesting, while discussing the illuminati.  "Freedom can only be achieved in death."  Unfortunatly, I also agree with this statment.

So the disturbing part, can true happiness only be achieved in death?  Note, I do not believe in an afterlife paradice or anything.  Scary thoughts surly, but if you agreed with the first two quotes, can you reject my point?

Absolute freedom can not exist at all. And if it does exist, it exists in the form of Anarchy, and Anarchy, ultimately becomes rule by the strong and ruthless.

Absolute Freedom = Anarchy = Rule by the Cruel = Slavery

I believe true happiness can be attained through other means however. I believe some type of 'special freedom' is required to achieve true happiness however, just not absolute freedom.

I do agree with the second quote though. I suppose if such a thing as 'absolute freedom' can exist, it might exist in death.

I don't agree with the quote "Happiness is absolute freedom."
Why? Because I think that love is happiness, and when I love someone I want to only be with him. Tied to him. Not free, but willingly tied to him.

I disagree with both statements. I don't see why freedom is a prerequisite for happiness, or why we can only experience true happiness once we cease being able to experience pleasure.

Some people are kinkier and prefer to be slaves of a sort...just as an example of a situation in which happiness wouldn't be dependent on freedom, but rather on the opposite.

I think you'd have to define "true happiness" before making a blanket statement like that.

What is "absolute freedom" anyway? A complete absence of reason or consequence? Random action? The suspension of the laws of physics?

As for happiness in death, I feel that, without an afterlife, they are entirely incompatible. Happiness is an emotion, and a decomposing corpse is not capable of experiencing such a thing. Neither is a corpse free. A corpse is not anything.
